Anyone looking for a new charger today faces a flood of abbreviations. GaN, PD, QC, 65W, 100W – what does it all mean and what do you really need?

1. What Is GaN and Why Is It Better?

GaN (Gallium Nitride) is a newer semiconductor material that makes chargers smaller, lighter, and more efficient than old silicon models. A GaN charger with 65W is often smaller than your old 18W power adapter.

2. How Many Watts Do You Need?

Smartphone: 25–45W is perfectly sufficient. Laptop: at least 45W, better 65W. Multiple devices simultaneously: 100W+ with multiple ports. More watts won't harm – the device only takes what it needs.

3. USB-C PD vs. Quick Charge

Power Delivery (PD) is the universal standard – works with iPhones, Android, and laptops. Quick Charge (QC) is a Qualcomm standard for Android devices. Many good chargers support both.

4. How Many Ports?

A single-port charger delivers full power to one device. Multi-port models distribute power – handy for travel when you want to charge phone, headphones, and laptop simultaneously.

5. Travel Adapters and Size

For travel within the EU or worldwide, there are chargers with interchangeable plugs. Compact GaN models fit easily into any jacket pocket.

All chargers at VELTELO are certified and equipped with overload protection – safe for your devices.
